January 27th session

Thankyou, Noela for allowing me to look over Len's shoulder again for another tutorial. I checked into defragmenting as you instructed and found that two of my disks need no defragmenting, but a third that was loaded from a previous computer did need defragmenting. It took all afternoon as you warned it might. Thankyou for the review of tabs. Our failed attempt at loading an old camera into a new computer was illuminating. The same hardware worked fine on my "old" XP. Thankyou again.

Thanks for a great session today with Noela at Wet library. As I am reading internet for dummies,, it nearly serves as a course outline for ones like us. However, many key computer terms, although higlighted and explained in the text book, require a personal explanation by a coach. Our coach was able to review my list of new languqge terms very adeptly. We also reviewed tabs and were shown how to install a digital camera and how to uninstall by way of an instructional disk. Very enjoyable session today discussing and actually using the library's internet service on a house computer. Accessed Google search, Firefox, Bing and discussed terminologies and tabs and viewed maps of Japan.

Thankyou for the opportunity to look over the shoulders of Len and Noela. I learned more about tabs, histories, search engines, Amazon,ca, ebooks, and personal websites. I will try to set up a modest site this evening.

We considered how half of Haiti is truly illiterate. In Canada, even in my later years, Len and I find that we must learn to read and write the language of the computer to be competitive. Thanks again.

Many thanks for the now two hour long sessions with Wetask. libray computer coach. These introductery lessons are exactly what I was looking for. Having not had a computer before. ad just acquired a lap top on boxing day. The teacher is very adept at showing me how to use and set up my lap top. She is very patient and explains things in a very understandable way. I am looking forward to my next session on Jan. 20. Thanks again for your helping me in this way.

For your session with CAP Intern Noella, what did you do and what are some comments you have?

The Purpose of This Workshop

Hello!

The main purpose of Computer Lit is to help those between the ages of 40 and 59 learn the basics of their computers. Many people buy a new computer, but become overwhelmed with the standard features. That's where we come in. The CAP team will sit down with individuals on a hands-on, 1-on-1 basis and help clear up the confusion.

Call Manisha @ the library 780.361.4447 to book your session.
