Between last tuesday's session and today's one hour of coaching, we have learned much about retrieving e=mails via telus home page and windows live. As well as learning how to set up a new digital camera so that it loads and installs its software into the computer which produced actual pictures on the computer screen. The resutlt of this we can see how these pictures now can be filed and e-mailed and documented. These excercises have been much easier for us by having a personal coach to help us along. We can see how this can be usefull in placing classified ads with print and pictures on sites such as KIJIJI or use Edmonton, etc. We can see that this is the only way to go for the future. We look forward to one more session with Noela and we will review what we have learned what we have learned so far and how we have benefitted from this teaching program. Cheers!

Thankyou for this afternoon's tutorial. Noela showed Len and I how to load a camera program into a computer. Easier said than done. The components need to be built within a few years of each other to likely be compatible. This example showed how a new fuji product installed with only a couple hickups whereas the old kodak product , bought the week before, was foreign to the new computer. Noela also showed us how to download pictures when the product did not automatically open a window with obvious provisions for that purpose.
Noela gave us a fast tutorial on how to operate a digital camera and some instruction an how to file the images on the computer as well as a brief intoduction to photo editing.
Last Tuesday, Noela gave me instructions on how to get a website started. I started a website on Tripod. The text did not transfer evenly to the website. Odd. It illustrates why some people are paid to do this proffesionally. When I was facing what appeared to be an insurmountable obstacle, She showed how it could be overcome with a new e-mail address. {not required after all.}
Len shared how he gets excellant customer service from London drugs even by telephone. With a product as complicated as a computer, customer service is paramount. Thanks again.

There was also a session with an older couple looking to better understand Windows Vista. Ron and Dawn picked up a book from the library and some interesting tips from myself.

February 12th session
Thankyou again to Noela and Wtaskiwin for the computer tutorial. I sure appreciate the F11 key, can't wait to tell Len about it. I'm still working on the printer to no avail. I did find a properties and tool bo I think but not with any adjustments that would seem to help. I may try to reinstall the program. Thankyou for showing how to find a ratings on various website hosters. I wonder what else might be rated on Google or such. I also learned about refiling icons on the desktop and automatic cleaning of the desktop.
PS thankyou for the introduction to Microsoft Works word processor. Much homework to do...... Thankyou

February 10th session
This was an excellant hour of instruction. I learned that not all peripheral devices bought new are supported by the computer bought last month.
Noela has worked at teaching us how to get a feel for the language of Windows. After she left, Len and I explored the sony vaio and discovered an internal program for e-mailing the images stored in the hard drive.
I also learned that there are a number of things that can be dragged from a list onto the desktop. Also learned that there are a number of substantially differant e-mail programs out there. .... that the list on my telus webmail can be expanded. that the tool bars on the top of my screen might be deleted...... Great hour. Thanks Noela.

February 3 session
Comments by Jeff for his session:
Thankyou for the tutorial. I better understand how to move files and the value of saving them onto a removable disk.
Len and I attempted to load his Kodak camera onto his laptop but have run into a wall. Something is not supported, We will bring the hardware to you next wednsday for help to install. I would recall more of what we covered, but len and I have been playing untill almost eleven oclock on his new lap top. Thankyou so much! Jeffrey Littlewood.

February 3 sessions
Several new people -as well as the regulars- came out for tutoring this time. Some people wanted to learn about their computer before even setting up for internet service.

Greetings . Enjoyed my session today at Wetaskiwin library with Noella. I am studying internet for dummies as a text book. So many applications and many terms require explaining, all of which my coach understands. She made the point today that that was a very american book, so many applications may not be necessary. However many terms require explaining, all of which my coach understands. We did some applications and searches and tabs and file reviews. I plan to have more terms and questions next time as well as were going to hook up my digital camera. Regards. Leonard Greck

The Purpose of This Workshop
Hello!
The main purpose of Computer Lit is to help those between the ages of 40 and 59 learn the basics of their computers. Many people buy a new computer, but become overwhelmed with the standard features. That's where we come in. The CAP team will sit down with individuals on a hands-on, 1-on-1 basis and help clear up the confusion.
