February 19th sessions

Between last tuesday's session and today's one hour of coaching, we have learned much about retrieving e=mails via telus home page and windows live. As well as learning how to set up a new digital camera so that it loads and installs its software into the computer which produced actual pictures on the computer screen. The resutlt of this we can see how these pictures now can be filed and e-mailed and documented. These excercises have been much easier for us by having a personal coach to help us along. We can see how this can be usefull in placing classified ads with print and pictures on sites such as KIJIJI or use Edmonton, etc. We can see that this is the only way to go for the future. We look forward to one more session with Noela and we will review what we have learned what we have learned so far and how we have benefitted from this teaching program. Cheers!

Thankyou for this afternoon's tutorial. Noela showed Len and I how to load a camera program into a computer. Easier said than done. The components need to be built within a few years of each other to likely be compatible. This example showed how a new fuji product installed with only a couple hickups whereas the old kodak product , bought the week before, was foreign to the new computer. Noela also showed us how to download pictures when the product did not automatically open a window with obvious provisions for that purpose.

Noela gave us a fast tutorial on how to operate a digital camera and some instruction an how to file the images on the computer as well as a brief intoduction to photo editing.

Last Tuesday, Noela gave me instructions on how to get a website started. I started a website on Tripod. The text did not transfer evenly to the website. Odd. It illustrates why some people are paid to do this proffesionally. When I was facing what appeared to be an insurmountable obstacle, She showed how it could be overcome with a new e-mail address. {not required after all.}

Len shared how he gets excellant customer service from London drugs even by telephone. With a product as complicated as a computer, customer service is paramount. Thanks again.

There was also a session with an older couple looking to better understand Windows Vista.  Ron and Dawn picked up a book from the library and some interesting tips from myself.

The Purpose of This Workshop

Hello!

The main purpose of Computer Lit is to help those between the ages of 40 and 59 learn the basics of their computers. Many people buy a new computer, but become overwhelmed with the standard features. That's where we come in. The CAP team will sit down with individuals on a hands-on, 1-on-1 basis and help clear up the confusion.

Call Manisha @ the library 780.361.4447 to book your session.
